More than 50 Coney Island community members gathered on Thursday January 21 for a meeting hosted by grassroots activist group Save Coney Island. At the meeting, which took place at St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Coney Island, Save Coney Island activists updated attendees on the group’s efforts to restore Coney Island as the world’s playground. Topics discussed included Save Coney Island’s lawsuit to overturn the City flawed rezoning of the amusement area, efforts to landmark Coney Island’s endangered historic buildings and the importance of a successful summer season in 2010. Community members also shared their concerns and visions for the future of the neighborhood.

The meeting was the subject of an article in a local community newspaper.
